The biannual Paris-based trade show, Maison & Objet allows design aficionados the world over a chance to collaborate and assess changing trends and witness burgeoning creativity.
Maison & Objet held at the Paris Nord Villepinte Exhibition Centre from 6th to 10th September, 2013 covered an extensive range of products and emerging talent from the world of contemporary interior design – right from furniture, lighting and architectural solutions to textiles, home automation, fashion objects and stationery.
Having developed a luxury core with the scènes d’intérieur section, where the world’s leading international designers present the best of high-end decoration and home fashion, and Now! design à vivre, the international home design exhibition for the latest, innovative design ideas, Maison & Objet consolidated its contemporary offering with the development of Actuel, which grouped urban and high-end furniture and cast a spotlight on modern home accessories.
The satellite trade shows at Maison & Objet focused on their respective specialised areas; Cook+Design gave a fresh perspective to fine dining and discovered a new approach to kitchen and culinary art; while at the craft pavilion artisans presented handmade rare pieces and brought life to inanimate objects.
The highlights of the show included ‘Illuminations’ an installation curated by Elizabeth Leriche as part of Maison & Objet’s Inspirations 2014: Energies event. It featured various design luminaires and creative lighting installations by leading designers like Front, Poetic Lab and Etienne Rey.
Architect Odile Decq, Designer of the Year at Maison & Objet this year was paid a tribute through a retrospective exhibition looking back at the highlights of her career. On the national front, Casa Paradox was one of the few Indian firms to be presented the opportunity to showcase its collections – Neophile and Illustratti at this global design event.
Over the years, Maison & Objet has refined the layout and honed its selection to present a comprehensive, legible and structured overview – facilitating visits, decision-making and contacts. To contribute to its influence all over the world, it will launch Maison & Objet Asia in Singapore in March 2014.
