Parents who take their kids to the jungle gym at the neighbourhood park always worry about its dangers, but what would be their stress levels if they were to take them to ‘Kinderparadijs Meidoorn’, a playground fashioned entirely out of the scraps of old windmills!
Mothers, breathe a sigh of relief, this park has been created by the architects of the firm 2012Architecten and is completely safe even though made out of old windmill blades. As it was the architects’ goal to make a statement about reusing waste materials they capitalised on the hollow centres, aero-dynamic and water-proof features of the blades to metamorphose them into perfect playground pieces.
This Netherlands playground is evidence that old machinery and large architectural structures can be put to better use, instead of being allowed to waste away, unused.
