Composed of waste and renewable natural materials, Earth Blocks are a clear educated choice over LEGO bricks that are composed of plastic that is not biodegradable. Manufactured by the company Colors Tokyo these are composed of compressed natural materials.
The classic stackable shape is adhered to in these sustainable bricks that are formed using cedar bark scraps, coffee beans, sawdust and green tea leaves, that have been blended with polypropylene in order to imbue the blocks with the required rigidity.
Produced in just one size (1.25 by 5/8 by 5/8 inches), Earth Blocks are slightly softer than their LEGO counterparts, but feature the same ability to snap together and form the desired sculpture. Sets of these eco friendly bricks are sold through the Guggenheim museum.
